Proud founders of Mother's Day

Who We Are

Our Mission Statement

Addison County Eagles is part of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, an international non-profit organization united in the spirit of liberty, truth, justice, and equality. Our purpose is to make life better by lessening hardship and promoting peace, prosperity, gladness, and hope.

As a local aerie, we carry that mission into Addison County through fellowship, service, local support, charitable giving, and community-centered events.

Our History

The F.O.E. was founded in February 1898 by six theatre owners gathered in a Seattle shipyard to discuss a musicians’ strike. After settling the matter, they agreed to form “The Order of Good Things”. As the organization grew, members selected the bald eagle as the official emblem and changed the name to “The Fraternal Order of Eagles”.

The women’s auxiliary traces its roots to 1927. Today, the Fraternal Order of Eagles includes members and local aeries throughout the United States and Canada, all connected by the motto: People Helping People.
